Zân was a lesser Goblin captain who took part in capturing the realm of Moria from the Dwarves. During the War of the Ring, he was among many that were hunting down the Fellowship of the Ring for invading their realm and awakening the Nameless Terror. He and his men eventually got pressed into the service of the white hand by the Uruks of Thrug-unur near the Eaves of Fangorn in East Rohan.
