Yark-Balka was a legendary Leader of the Avatani and pupil of the Plains-Avari of the Second Age. He was said to have forged the original Yarkbalka-Swords, symbols of the Order of the Silver Sword, elite warriors of the long lost Empire. He was remembered as a fabled teacher of men, the Yarkbalka-style School of Martial Arts in Lôkhas Drûs and the town of Âlk Yarkbalka were named for him.
