Wise ,in Middle-Earth, was a title for those especially learned, great in knowledge and lore and giving good council,the Loremasters of the peoples.
Especially among the lesser Men, Wise Men and Wisewomen were also leaders, and teachers.Sages who passed their knowledge unto a chosen successor.
The Sindarin term for Wise was "Sael".Wise-one also was the meaning of Istar or Ithron (Wizard).
