Essentially descendants of various escaped domestic varieties, the Wild Goats had dirty, shaggy coats and short, black horns. They ranged all over Middle-earth. Their small, sharp hooves made them agile climbers, and they could swim remarkably well; however, they restricted the beasts' movements in the bog-lands, where wide feet provided stability in the muck.
