The Weather Hills skirmishes took place during the reign of King Argeleb I. King Argeleb fortified this range of hills after Rhudaur became hostile to Arthedain. Rhudaur was in league with Angmar and was led by a mighty lord of the Hill-men. King Argeleb fell in battle--slain by the men of Rhudaur with the help of Angmar.
Arveleg son of Argeleb I, with the help of Cardolan and Lindon, drove back his enemies from the Hills; and for many years Arthedain and Cardolan held in force a frontier along the Weather Hills, the Great Road, and the lower Hoarwell. It wass said that at this time Rivendell was besieged.
