The Waste (S."Lothren") was an inhospitable region in northern Rhûn, the Master of Lake-town starved to death in the Waste after having fled from Dale with a band of co-conspirators having embezzled a large part of the compensations paid to Bard Bowman by Dain II Ironfoot, intended to rebuild the town of Dale.It was unknown what became of his treasure.
