Vëantur (Q. either "Vigorous-lord" or "Vigorous-servant") served as Captain of the garrison at the Tower of Cirith Ungol, though the scholarly and reserved man would have seemed an unlikely candidate .The heir of the noble Axandil house he had always enjoyed the privileges and security guaranteed by immense family wealth and considerable personal power, and although rigorously trained in the use of arms as any properly raised Dúnadan noble, he had never known real hardship.Veantur‘s military achievements had not been recorded on the battlefield but rather in several acclaimed campaign chronicles which he had written.

Standing 6’10”, the 90-year-old Vëantur had graying hair, adding dignity to the sharp lines of his handsome countenance, and towered above his soldiers. A glittering gaze, alternately kindly or fearsomely stern, outwardly expressed the will of his powerful mind.Though not extraordinarily strong nor tough, his lean body was well-conditioned and surprisingly agile. The Captain's dress was invariably of high quality and tasteful in the traditional manner.
