Vaem (Ma. "Bamboo") is a valued material in the Twin Nations because of its versatility. Vaem has thousands of uses, many of which deal with the building of structures such as houses and boats. Large Vaem-forests hug the base of the Yellow Mountains in north-western Mag and Tûmag, where the temperature is cooler and more suited to the giant grass than the lowland tropical regions.
