Torannun (Du. " Hill of the Underworld") was the Chieftain of the Highland Fells. His lineage was one of the most storied in Dunland, for he claimed to descend in direct line from one of the greatest heroines of Dunland: Torben, she who taught her folk the language of the ferocious Wargs of the mountains and saved them from countless Orc raids. Torannun had inherited the gifts of his fabled ancestor, and thanks to that and his cunning he had travelled widely in his youth, which was rare in a Dunlending. He had seen much of Rhovanion and its varied peoples, some of which he even came to admire.

Torannun’s clan moved along the highland fells, though they generally avoided coming close to the Gap of Rohan for he always advised against it, as Torannun was one of the few Dunlendish leaders to doubted Saruman’s intentions. He had spent much of his life roaming over the Misty Mountains and knew much that was hidden. Unlike his generally insular people, Torannun enjoyed conversing with outsiders, especially if they brought news he hadn’t heard.

Notes[]

Original form in TOR:Torannen = Twrannwn = Torannun

The original should, most likely, be treated as an "untranslated" form.It has been replaced here with a modified middle welsh form in order to keep it streamlined with the naming conventions for southern Eriador/Enedhwaith.
