Torben (Du. "Hill-woman") was known in history to be one of the greatest heroines of Dunland during the Third Age and one of Torannen's ancestors. She had taught her folk the language of the ferocious Wargs of the Misty Mountains and saved them from countless Orc raids. Her actions of heroism made her a great leader amongst her folk and she taught much of her knowledge to her kin.

Tora should, most likely, be treated as an "untranslated" form. It was replaced by an actual middle-welsh form to match the name patterns for southern Eriador/Enedhwaith.
