Thondir (S. "Man of roots") was an Elf of the Second Age, from the realm of Lindon.

History[]

Thondir was lieutenant to Galadriel during her mission to venture into Forodwaith and put an and to any remnants of the armies of Morgoth. He exercised caution, to no avail, as they reached an ancient fortress of the outlying complex of Angband. They discovered a mark left by Sauron, and slew a snow-troll when it attacked them. Afterwards, Galadriel wished to continue the search for Morgoth's armies and Sauron, but Thondir and the rest refused to follow him.

Upon their return to Mithlond, Thondir was honored by Gil-galad, and was permitted to sail to Valinor. While he was ready to sail into the West, Galadriel was not.
