Thangon

Thangon (W."Major") was a Westron title and Rank.It was used in different ways throughout the Ages, but in the late Dúnadan Military of Gondor it was used to designate an officer with the Rank similar to a captain/major, who was in command of a Falmaendak ("W."Battlewave") of about 100 Soldiers. In this Thangon was used interchangeably with the older Sindarin Term Hothron or Gwaithor.Thangon could however also refer to a Garrison Commander or the Lieutenant of a Targen. The Sindarin equivalent was the "Condir".
