I thought it would just be fun to discuss this; I like to think that Trolls came from, as Tolkien suggested in a late idea, "Primitive Human-Types", which seems to be Tolkien-speak for early humans at the prime of their glory, since he uses the term "Primitive" to mean "First" and "Greatest" (as he did descibing Boldogs for example), which is technically how it's supposed to be used, though nobody uses it anymore. I guess these "Primitive Human-types" were Giants, and that Giants were related to Men, and perhaps Elves, all along. Perhaps Olog-hai are made by crossing Trolls together with their Giant ancestors. That's my theory anyway. I alluded to this on this page, but I didn't remove the previous theory, since it's still entirely possible the things are basically golems. - There are many different theories... Some peoples supposed that the Entwifes might have been captured and used to breed new troll-types, other supposed half-trolls or Troll-men to be a stage in the breeding of Olog-Hai or Troll-Orcs, Troll-Orc-Hybrids.MERP Has at last one Character, the Beast from Tales of the Westmarch who is a Troll-man-Orc Experiment and one , Skessa, who is half-Giant-HalfTroll.Arnor also mentions a Troll-Giant-Ent Hybrid, I forgot his name. And Ardagor and Dagorhir who were Troll-Elf-Hybrids. Tolkien was very reluctant about Trolls... there was that Quote where he mentioned Goblin-spirit imprisoned in Stone-Statues... I don't remember if he said anything about _Trolls, Giants and primitive Humans... The Two Giants of Aman, Gilim and Nan, to me are a hint towards a connection between Giants and Ainur though.--Haerangil (talk) 10:06, January 11, 2015 (UTC)
