Tur Haretha

Haudh-en-Arwen

The Tûr Haretha (Hal."Ladybarrow"; S. Haudh-en-Arwen), was the burial mound of Haleth, daughter of Haldad and Chieftain of the Haladin, the Second House of the Edain. After the death of her father and brother in battle against Orcs, Haleth led her people through perilous lands, settling first in Estolad and later in the Forest of Brethil, where they became vassals of king Thingol of Doriath. When she passed, the Haladin honored her by raising a grassy mound on the forest heights, a revered site that likely became the center of the Garth of the Graves, where other chieftains of Brethil were later laid to rest.
