Harad-orc

Known variously as Fel, Bês, Urûk or Rûki to the Haradrim and Black Númenóreans, Orc-kind was well known and wide-spread throughout Harad. These southern Orc-kind fought in the armies of Sauron's Tyrant of the South and most Soldiers of the Black Serpent were quite used to fight along these creatures.

Like their kin of the Westlands, they could be identified as several quite different breeds. Most Orc-Soldiers who fought in the Great Southern Army were common Fighting-Orcs, while some were supporting snagas used as workers and some specialized tracker and scouting Orcs . These were not all too different from their northern kin. Some Orc breeds, however, were peculiar and only native to the southern lands. These included the savage Desert Orcs and the savannah-dwelling Gnole. Some of the Dark Forests of the South also were home to the bizarre Jungle Orc kindred.

Not very well known were the Uruk-Hai, only few Black Uruks from Mordor had been sent to Near-Harad as members of elite-Units, and almost none had ever been used in Sauron's more outlying domains. However there were other, older races of Greater Orcs or Hobgoblins quite similar to those of the North. The Haradrim called these "Ûnik".
