Sled-Dogs of the Lumimiehet

Sled-dogs (La. "rekikoirat", sing. "rekikoira") had very thick coats to resist the cold, and for sheer power and stamina they were more than the equal of any wolf or war-dog. They had deep, heavily-muscled chests and strong hind legs. Their fur ranged from grey to white in color, with short, curling tails and pointed, alert ears atop their heads. The Lumimiehet alone used the dogs to pull sleds or, in rough country, as pack animals. Any sled-dogs "gone wild" or having returned to a wilderness state quickly readapted to domesticity, and unprovoked attacks were rare.
