Boromir: "Is it not a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt for so small a thing? So small a thing!"
- J. R. R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring II:10

Silinde

Silinde the Councillor

Silindë (S."shining song") was an Elfven scholar of Rivendell and a close advisor in Elrond´s council.

When Elrond called the Council of Elrond, gathering representatives of Middle-earth to decide the fate of the One Ring, Silindë was among those invited. Though he spoke little, his counsel was valued, and he supported the decision that the Ring could not be hidden or wielded—it had to be destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom.

Following the fall of Sauron, Silindë traveled to Minas Tirith, where he bore witness to the coronation of Aragorn II Elessar, the rightful King of Gondor and Arnor. As the shadows of war lifted and the world of Men entered a new age, Silindë, like many of the Firstborn, turned his thoughts westward. With the passing of the Third Age, Silindë joined the last great voyage of the Eldar, sailing from the Grey Havens across the Belegaer to Aman, the Undying Lands.
