Adventurers in Middle-earth often found themselves the unfortunate victims of annoying insects, bitten and stung and driven to distraction. The sickle-flies (S."Sithaicerch") and other such insects tended to be a little more dangerous in the marshy regions. Adventurers were be well-advised to avoid these disease-bearing bugs, lest they found themselves in a weakened state against larger and deadlier enemies.
