Sharkû (or."Old Man") was an Orc of Isengard and the captain of Saruman´s Wolfriders.
Notes[]
Deciphers Isengard Sourcebook considers the Wolfriders a sub-breed of Saruman´s Uruk-Hai.However by definitions of the Game Uruk-Hai may refer to Saruman´s perfected Uruk-Hai, a Half-orc breed (or rather Uruk-Hai with traces of goblin-man blood). So Sharkû and his fellow Wolfriders could be interpreted as a special breed of Half-orc (also considering their obvious immunity to sunlight and the meaning of Sharkû´s name, Shara being the common orcish word for a human). In the early drafts ,published in History of the Lord of the Rings, Sharkey was indeed originally a Half-Orc, one of the leaders of Saruman's ruffians in the Shire, until it became a byname of Saruman himself.
