
Shírolos was a clear yellow brandy distilled from shíra, a grass, originally native to temperate tallgrass plains or steppes,later cultivated, which closely resembled rye.Shíra beer, called shírale, was only slightly more intoxicating than normal beer; however, shírolos immobilized the victim and caused a suggestive trance; at minimum, it caused severe drowsiness.
