In T.A. 1810, King Telumehtar Umbardacil waged war against Umbar for the atrocities done unto Gondor. He is successful in taking Umbar and driving the Corsairs out of the area. Gondor then claimed Umbar as its own having slain the last descendants of Castamir. Gandalf the Grey may have been in the South at this time as he was considered a "northern spy" and was mentioned as having traveled to the South--this could have been during the time that Arnor held off Angmar's forces in T.A. 1409, returning to the north in T.A. 1900.
