A Scholar is a learned person, a Scientist, Teacher, Student or Academic. In Middle-Earth the most learned of the Scholars were called Loremasters.

Scholar is a playable profession in MERP and Rolemaster and a possible calling in TOR. Rolemaster also has professions which could be considered Scholars such as Academic, Astrologer, Constructor, Runemaster, Sage, Creator, Elemental Physician, Engineer, Free Thinker, Geomancer, Grand Vizier, Scientist or Seeker. In LOTRRPG Loremaster refers to a common scholar while Antiquarian is an Elite-Order.
