Saubaiz (Ta. “Spider- master”) was a minor deity of the Sîranians. His sect possessed a large following among thieves as well as victims of theft, who made offerings a few times a year to him. His temple was normally a very dark edifice, poorly lit inside. The priests of Saubaiz wore black flowing robes and led daily prayers. They collected monetary offerings and were intimately involved with the local thieves in each city. (There were no organized guilds of thieves, but small groups of bandits often worked together.). Law- breakers who had been caught were frequently helped by funds provided by the priests of Saubaiz.

Saubaiz might have been the same deity as the Tarbarûn of Near-Harad, believed to be based on blurred memories of the Demon Langon.
