The Sarqindi (Q. "Fleshy ones") were a race or tribe of cannibal-Ogres encountered by Eärendil the Mariner and Voronwë Aranwion on their first voyage.They inhabited the Dark regions or Fire mountains along with Tree-Men and Pygmies.Their exact origin was unknown but they were different from the Hongwir, the "Ogres of the North".
As denizens of the Far South they could have been relatives or even the ancestors of the Cold-Ogres of Southernesse.

Just like the other few scattered references to Ogres also the Sarqindi most likely are something in-between Orc,Troll, Giant and Demon similar to Boldogs or Maulir.Their location in the far South however may indicate they were rogue or free agents, not directly serving Morgoth, though possibly originally corrupted or created by him.
