Rothinel was a beautiful Gondorian woman of Dol Amroth. She wanted to marry Denethor II of Minas Tirith, but was rejected. When the War of the Ring erupted, she was among the civilians that were present in the ruins of Osgiliath until the city had fallen attack by the armies of Mordor. Despite her attempts to escape, Rothinel bravily defended herself and back against the enemy by slaying a few Orcs with a knife she carried, but was thrown down to the ground and executed by Gothmog.

Notes[]

Rothinel was the name created to be the wife of Denethor in the earlier drafts of the Lord of the Rings appendices, but was name was changed to Finduilas.
