Nine rings of men
The Nine Rings of Men (Q."Nertë Narkandë") or simply The Nine, also known as the Chains of Kings (Har."Shagarî Tûrûm"; Q."Angaina Aranin"; Orc."Lugâk Burzum") were legendary artifacts crafted by the Elven-smiths of Eregion under the guidance of Sauron, the Deceiver. Gifted to nine mortal kings, these rings promised power, wealth, and dominion, but at a terrible cost. Corrupted by their influence and the will of the One Ring, the wearers were transformed into the Nazgûl, the Ringwraiths, eternal servants of Sauron.
The Devouring Nine[]
- Ûri, the Heart-stopper (Ring of Ire): This ring is attributed to the mannish king Mûrazôr, who is often identified as the Witch-king of Angmar. Ûri is said to instill intense wrath and a desire for conquest in its bearer.
- Orôm, the Warmonger (Ring of Rancor): Worn by Khamûl, an Easterling king, this ring allegedly amplifies aggressive tendencies and a thirst for warfare.
- Sâkhla, the Cruel One (Ring of Terror): Associated with a king named Dwar, Sâkhla is described as enhancing the bearer's capacity for cruelty and instilling fear in others.
- Jûru, the Herald of Mourning: This ring is linked to King Indûr and is said to bring despair and sorrow to those around its wearer.
- Mêbat, the Mirth-eater: Attributed to King Khôrahil, Mêbat supposedly drains joy and happiness from the bearer's surroundings.
- Nitîr, Terror's Sting: Worn by King Hôarmûrath, this ring is believed to instill paralyzing fear in adversaries.
- Sapthân, the Foolstone: Associated with noble Adûnaphel, Sapthân is said to cloud judgment and sow confusion.
- Khânto, the Pain-giver: Linked to King Rên, this ring allegedly enhances the bearer's ability to inflict pain.
- Adâsh, the Foe-maker (Ring of Savagery): Worn by King Ûvathar, Adâsh is described as inciting uncontrollable rage and a desire for destruction.
