The Rhawiandath of Cardolan
The decimation of Cardolan left little but barren wilderness bordering the Hobbit-lands south of the Brandywine.While this Rhawiand (S."Prairie wild";Or."Barogar") kept northern lands more isolated and poorer than they might have wished, it also protected them from the ambitions of Angmar.Despising all life and happiness, the Witch-king had created a swath of wilderness in Cardolan that could not support his armies.Sarn Ford became the center of the few farming villages on the edge of the prairie wilds of Minhiriath while it was protected by the Rangers of the North from Clearwater Wells, a hidden camp about thirty miles of the ford. In the Fourth Age Meriadoc Brandybuck organised campaigns against the Goblins of these wilds and the Red Hills.
