The Red Demons (S."Carrogath") were lesser Fire Spirits.Once pupils of Aule they were corrupted by Morgoth and served as his Master-Smiths and Artisans in the Subterranean Smithies of Utumno and Angband.They were sometimes also considered lesser Balrogs.
