Razanur (Ad."the deep strange"?) was a legendary Númenórean explorer. In the late Second Age had he visited the far coasts of Harad, the Bay of Ormal, the Farthest East, Southernesse, the Far North and reputedly even Ringli, the Green Land, Easternesse and the New Lands. So many fantastic journeys and discoveries were attributed to him and his legend that scholars of later ages suspected there must have been more than one Razanur or that he may have been an immortal half-elf.
No tale of his death or end was ever passed down, his legends told contradicting stories, in some he simply never returned from his final journey, presumably dying at sea, in others he eventually found Tol Meneltarma, the straight path and saw Tol Eressëaor even Aman or he was shipwrecked and stranded on one of the cursed -, enchanted - or magic isles, doomed to sleep until the day of Dagor Bragollach.
Notes[]
"Razanur" was only briefly alluded to in the Legendarium to explain the Westron name "Peregrin", which was explained as a translation of Adûnaic "Razanur", the name of "a famous explorer".
