The Ráliani (Lin."Lake-host") were a group of the Lênitani or Eastern Lake-peoples, a southeastern branch of the Easterlings.They occupied the Rálian, or Great Lake-Lands of the southeast.While their more northern Lênitan Kinsmen were for the most part semi-nomadic Herders the Ráliani were more civilized farmers, fishermen and Traders.In their early times the Ráliani's ancestors had friendly ties with the Kwindi Elves they later fell under the sway of the Nazgûl Khamûl (after his Exile from Wômawas Drûs) and became the base of the barbarous realm of Rúartar, whose High-Kings the Kanks served the Dark Lord and offered him shelter and hideout when he hid himself within the dark Iron Forest in the center of the World.
The Raliani hoewver were never a united people but consisted of several independent tribes notably the Tífe Kábian, Tífe Lénian, Rále Kuiwian, Rále Búrsian and last the Tífe Kankanian, who were the power base of the Kanks.They however spoke a single language known as Rálek.
