Turculon had only one spy in Dunfearn, whose name was Purfin. He was a Dwarf of Moria who was exiled for seven years for stealing. During that time he met Turculon and was now working for him. He traveled from town to town working as a blacksmith and weaponsmith, spreading the rumor and collecting information to take to Turculon. Turukulon paid him in gems or gold, but never as much as the Dwarf would have liked. Of course, asking for a raise was out of the question.
