Pre-númenórean (Ad."Obadûni", "before-westron") referred to the Cultures of the Middle-men and Men of Darkness or Wild Men of Middle-Earth before númenórean colonization of Middle-Earths northwestern and western coastlands.
Notable pre-númenórean cultures were the early or proto-"Eriadorians" or Eriadain, which may or may not have included the Gwathuirim, the ancestors of the Breemen, the Forodrim,the Hillmen of Rhudaur, the Arvandor the folk of later Angmar, and the old or "pre-Gondorians", which included the folk of Agar and Udul, the Men of the Ered Nimrais, including the Oathbreakers, and probably the coastal Sakalai of later southern Gondor.
Other pre-Númenóreans of the Westlands included the:
- bead-makers of Forochel and western Forodwaith
- fell Folk of the East or Theudo-Nomads
- Nenedain, Men of the Misty Mountains and Béoacs
- the Men of the Brown lands, Maqqi Brana and Donath
- the Shrel, Nardhrim and Ulgath of the Rhûnaer
In coastal Harad they included:
- the Faríyim , Tazina and Altin Emungi of Haradwaith
- the Mayitûans, Kîr, Kôro , Sea-peoples, Akanli, Hillmen of the utter South
Many other tribes in Eastern Middle-Earth were contemporary but most never were in touch with númenórean Culture or if they were only very brief and superficially.These Groups included the Ahar, Ashê, Avatani, Brâric, Fale, Iorad, Khailûza, Kûiwak, Lênitani, Men of the Orocarni, Tyr, 'Ûrnâ'im, Woodmen of the Far-East and many smaller and unknown or forgotten groups and cultures.
