The Prancing Pony, by Karen Wynn Fonstad: The Atlas of Middle-earth (Revised Edition)
The Prancing Pony was the most popular (and indeed only) inn in the town of Bree and all of Breeland near the end of the Third Age. At that time it had been owned and operated by the Butterbur Family for as long as anyone could reckon. It was located on the site of the earlier King's Rest Inn.
