Savaged Elf of the Pendi people

The Pendi (SE Av. "Speaking ones") were a tribe or culture of Dark Elves inhabiting the great east-continent of Southernesse, hailing originally from southeastern Middle-Earth and the Inner Seas. They were mostly of Nelyarin origin although they had a Tatyarin element too.

Appearance[]

The Pendi were tall by Avarin standards, above 6' being common for males and females alike. They were very slender and lithe, with large hands and long skulls, making them appear alien to wild men such as the Old Ones. Many had skin of dark, greyish or ruddy hue though ivory or silken tones also were not uncommon. Most had dark hair, but some also appeared to have copper or silvery tones.Almost all were dark eyed.

Culture[]

The Pendi were divided into three groups or tribes. The O'ô'-Pendi inhabited floating raft-towns on the northeastern reefs and were largely fishermen while the Lindê-Pendi inhabited the forests and were mostly hunters and hoe-farmers, both tribes were almost exclusively descended from Nelyar. The third tribe, the Mizdê-Pendi, inhabited the hills and mountains and were mostly herders and the only tribe which had made some efforts in building stone-structures and developing some smithcraft. They were the most tatyarin element among the Pendi and naturally felt most close to the Durgana-dwarves.

Language[]

The Pendi spoke "Pen'ûa", a southern or southeastern dialect of Avarin belonging to its Nelyarin branch.

Notes[]

The Pendi-Avari are loosely based on Tolkien's Falathrim/Falmari, Sindar/Nandor and Eolrim/Noldor with some inspiration from the Mimih-spirits of australian aborigine and the Patupaiarehe of Maori myth.
