Mountains of Aman
The Pelóri (Q. "The fencing or defensive heights"), also called also the Mountains of Aman and the Mountains of Defense, were raised by the Valar after the destruction of their dwelling on Almaren. They were ranged in a crescent from north to south, close to the eastern shores of Aman. The Black Mountains and Hills of the North were two northern sidearms of the Pelóri stretching north and westwards from Amnos and Hanstovanen.The Toros Valinoriva was a southern sidearm stretching westwards from the Hyarmentir.A second, unnamed, southern sidearm went parallel to the main Pelóri until roughly north of Ruamóre creating a gigantic sheltered vale.
