Ostrala was one of the last settlements of the southern Nandor in Ithilien.A small tribe of Elves had continued to live here until the 17th century of the third age.It is unknown what had happened to these elves or where, when and why they had left, but in the early fourth age new colonists from Mirkwood used Ostrala as a semi-permanent camp for establishing a new small colony.
