The most famous Road of the Westlands was the Men-i-Naugrim, the "Way of Dwarves," one of the most ancient paths in all of northwestern Middle-earth. In fact a combination of many linked trails and highways, the Men-i- Naugrim was paved by the Dwarves of the Blue Mountains, from which it crossed Eriador, where it was called Great East Road (or specifically the Old Road between Bree and Rivendell), and the Misty Mountains, and ran through Mirkwood. There it was also called the Old Forest Road. East of the great wood, it crossed the River Running at Iach Celduin (Athrad Celduin) and then cut northeast towards Azanulinbar in the Iron Hills.
