Nargil was an elf of Nargothrond.He was a well known stealthy archer and twin-brother to Loruin.Deeply loyal to the House of Finarfin he was one of the companions who joined Finrod Felagund and Beren Erchamion on their quest for the Silmaril.Nargil found his death when he was captured and eventually slain by Sauron's werewolves on Tol Sirion. Nargil was a character whose Dirk was mentioned by Beleg Cúthalion in his 'whetting spell' along with the Glaive of Gaurin, spear of Ogbar, the Sword of Saithnar, the Halls of Rodrim, the sweeping sickle of the slashing tempest, the lambent lightning's leaping falchion and the Sword Celeg Aithorn.He was also called Loruin.
As Beleg mentioned the names of knives and Gnomish blades it seems likely that Nargil was a forgotten Noldorin hero , possibly one of the ten companions of Finrod Felagund.
