Elves called the deadliest of the Endor's sharks Nímaergurth (S. "White Seadeath"). Typically large (15+ feet) and always hungry, these unsleeping killers hunted virtually anything that had flesh that they could tear apart and eat. Even wounded whales had felt the wrath of these white (underparts) and grey (overparts) denizens of the sea. Indeed, seafaring peoples, such as the Númenóreans, rumored amongst themselves that these creatures were one of the few things of the sea touched by the hand of Morgoth, and thus explained their aggression and brutality.
The Nimaergurth was a beast laden with dental weapons; even its skin was covered in scales of calcium embedded in dental tissue comparable to the teeth of their dreaded jaws. These were numerous; in its long, pointed snout were set nine rows of flat, triangular, serrated teeth. Those of the outermost row were six to eight inches long. These teeth constantly broke and snapped out of the gums with the thrashing of the Nimaergurth as it slew its pray like a dog with a toy-- yet they constantly grew replacements, shifting outwards with each loss. Like all sharks, the nimaergurth was a cartilaginous fish, with a skeleton consisting of the same biological substance as composed the structure of the noses of Elves and Men. It bore live-young, usually in litters of 7-9 sharklings.
