Mornan

The Mornan was a deep vale, south of Edoras, overshadowed by two high peaks. It was home to the well of river Morthond, which ran south from the Mornan, passed the Dark Door, and left the Ered Nimrais into Blackroot Vale and central Gondor.

The name Mornan was sometimes mistaken for the Morthond Vale as a whole, but Mornan proper referred only to the small valley of the river's source.
