Merethorn (S. "Tree of Festivity"; N. "Beredoron") was the Lord of the Sîrrandras.
History[]
During the wars of Morgoth in Beleriand and Eriador in the First Age, the Green-Elves chose Merethorn from among their ranks to unite the Elves of Sîrgala and hunt down the servants of Morgoth. The Sîrrandras soon recognized him as their lord.
After the War of Wrath, Merethorn swore fealty to Gil-galad, the High King of the Noldor in nearby Lindon. He married Eliniel, a Noldo lady of a great lineage, and the two ruled as Lord and Lady of the Sîrrandras in a land that flourished for centuries in the Second Age.
Merethorn served Gil-galad during the War of the Elves and Sauron in the 17th century of the Second Age, and again in the War of the Last Alliance at the end of the Second Age, where Merethorn led his people at the siege of Barad-dûr. The losses were heavy, and Merethorn was slain by a Sand Drake during the siege. As his widow, Eliniel now became sole ruler of their people.
