Meneldor was one of the Chieftains of the Great Eagles and a brother of their king Gwaihir. He accompanied his brother when they came to the Black Gate to fight against the Fell-beasts of Mordor and later helped to rescue Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee at the Sammath Naur.
