Meleselde (Q. "Love-sister", pl. Meletheldi) was a Quenya term used to describe a female Elf who had an intense relationship with another female Elf, to the point that they were life partners and did not wed. "Mel" refers to friendly love, so this could refer to an extremely dedicated platonic partner.
However, many scholars have understood this as the word for the romantic female partner of a female Elf.
