Lightfoot was a Hobbit Pony bred by the Brandybucks of Buckland and purchased by Merry Brandybuck for Frodo Baggins and his company for their travel to Rivendell. Bumpkin was eventually set free from the stables of the Prancing Pony at Bree by the Squint Eyed Southerner and ran to the wilds where he was found by Tom Bombadil who sent him and the other ponies back to Barliman Butterbur to recompense him for his loss.
