The Lands of the Last Desert

The Lands of the Last Desert

The Last Desert (Av."Mitarkilís"; Orc. "Êr-fúth", Tyr. "Klehûkh"; Q. "Telda Úvanëanórë" ; PL. "Âra-fôto", later:"Lîhuh") was a vast desert land covering much of the eastern parts of Endon. The western parts evolved into the more fertile Lands of East-plain while the eastern parts strechted to the foothills of the Dark Mountains.

The Last Desert was rumoured to have been home to the last Were-Worms.

Notes[]

In his earliest drafts for "The Hobbit" Tolkien referred to the "Great desert of Gobi" and China before changing them into the "Last Desert" and East of East.
