Larfhad on the Upper Lune
Barad Gaurhoth and the Ruins of Larfhad
Larfhad (S. "Rich place"; Q. "Lárëasta") was a Free City of Arthedain.It was part of the Royal Fold and lay in northwestern Arthedain, on river Lune.The town had a quite large population of 4,300 in TA 250.However it's population declined after the early Third Age and the settlement was eventually abandoned by TA 1400.
The place was later used as a semi-permanent campsite of the fierce Gaurdain-tribesmen and was known to the Elves of Lune as Barad Gaurhoth (S."Werewolf-fort").
