One of the sources of the Anduin was this river of northwestern Rhovanion. The Langwell (Éo. "Long-well"; S. Anthiel, An[n]eithel) arose above the Gundalok shelf near the peaks of the Hithaeglir claimed by Angmar. Despite its foul origin, it was swift, clear, and straight for most of its length.
