Erythroxylum coca - Köhler–s Medizinal-Pflanzen-204 (1)

The Yôef was a bush native to cool, temperate streambeds, particularly seasonally dry ones, distantly related to coca.Yôef powder, which was prepared by boiling the dark green leaves in vinegar, straining the extract, then evaporating the extract, which could be ingested by inhalation or absorption under the tongue. If eaten raw, the bitter leaves acted as a mild stimulant like coffeine or coca.
