''A Guide to Dale and Surrounding Lands'' by Richard Harrison for [[the One Ring Role-playing Game]] gives the name of Bard's wife as Hella, a Westron-sounding name that may be considered a translation. The names Ingrid and Una appear in some fanfiction stories, and being Old Norse in origin (in keeping with [[Northrons|Northron]] custom) are here considered the native names of Bard's wife. While this article is largely concerned with recent, film-related sources, older material states that Bard was married twice, both times later in his life, with his first wife dead at the time of the slaying of Smaug and marrying a second time after the rebuilding of Dale.
