Arta Ilmaryen (Q. "Fort [of] Daughter-[of]-Starlight?") or Ilmaryen Keep once had been the remote keep of a disgruntled Númenórean noble in the Great Greenwood. It was built in S.A. 2937 and abandoned at the end of the Second Age. In later ages the ruin had become the abode of a small force of Blogrum-Hai Yrch, an orcish tribe who served the Necromancer of Dol Guldur. The keep was located about eighty miles north of the Men-i-Naugrim on the northern shore of a lake set within a series of hills at the western end of the southernmost chain of the Mountains of Mirkwood.
